Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Our Connecticut Services

We serve all of Fairfield County CT including Stamford, Greenwich, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, Old Greenwich, Cos Cob, Riverside, Westport, and Fairfield. We also serve nearby Westchester County NY communities.

In Connecticut, residential security cameras on your own property generally do not require a permit. However, if your system connects to police dispatch (monitored alarm), some municipalities require an alarm permit. We advise on local requirements during your consultation.

We recommend IP67-rated cameras from Hikvision and Dahua for Connecticut installations. These cameras operate in temperatures from -22°F to 140°F, handle heavy rain and snow, and include built-in heaters for lens defogging in winter conditions.

Our specialty is hidden cabling in finished homes. We use professional fish tapes, flex drill bits, and attic/crawlspace access to run cables completely out of sight. No exposed conduit, no drywall damage — just clean, invisible runs.

For a 4–8 camera system recording at 4K with motion-triggered recording, a 4TB hard drive provides approximately 30 days of footage. For 8–16 cameras, we recommend 8TB for the same retention period. If you want continuous 24/7 recording at higher resolution, we size up accordingly. We calculate storage requirements during your free consultation so your NVR is correctly specced from day one.

Same-brand systems are always ideal for simplicity — one app, one interface, and seamless integration. However, we can work with mixed environments. If you already have Ring cameras and want to add Hikvision for better outdoor coverage, we can run them through separate NVRs or use a unified platform like Blue Iris to bring all feeds together. We assess your existing setup and recommend the cleanest solution.
